Technology to design serum (plasma) separator gel
Our separator gel technology, which enables stable and easy collection of the serum component required for blood tests, contributes significantly to the medical field around the world.

What is the technology to design serum (plasma) separator gel?
In general, vacuum blood collection tubes are used for blood sampling for medical checkups. A serum (plasma) separator gel is a product contained in the vacuum blood collection tubes. Centrifugal separation after blood sampling causes blood to be separated into the serum component, whose specific gravity is low, and the blood clot component, whose specific gravity is high. During centrifugal separation, the serum separator gel enters between the serum component and the clot component to form a partition wall. The partition wall formed by the serum separator gel makes it possible to collect the serum component required for blood tests stably and easily.

What are the key features of this technology?
The serum (plasma) separator gel was developed by combining three of our technologies, as indicated below.
(1) Technology to synthesize highly stable polymers
(2) Dispersion technology to stably disperse fillers in polymers to attain appropriate specific gravity
(3) Viscosity control technology to enter between serum and clot (blood components) by centrifugal separation to form a partition wall

Contribution to solving social issues
There has been growing awareness about health around the world due to an increase in various diseases. Against this backdrop, preventive medical care has become increasingly important. Vacuum blood collection tubes containing a serum (plasma) separator gel are mainly used for blood tests. We contribute to promoting healthy lives for people around the world through preventive medical care using blood tests.
